Sensei Says:
Reads from RIGHT to LEFT
FFFFFFFFFFFFF, i had this page 75% done yesterday! But F#@$ing photoshop decided to crash on me, and of course i had not saved! *cries in corner*
So I had to revert back to being not even 25% done and get it out at..5:20am the following day *cries more*
Not only that but now the 4th panel isn't as good as I had it before and I can't seem to get it right. uuggggggghhhh
*regains composure*
Anyway, not too happy with this page, then again, i'm never really happy with my pages anymore. Fifth panel killed the crap out of my wrist i must say, if you can't tell what's going on, he's jumping backwards... couldn't find the best way to portray that other than the speed lines, but they don't help that much. Also, just in case you don't know what's going on in that last panel, Hirota is flipping the sword behind his back.
Also, if you haven't been able to determine so from either this page, page 2, or the chapter cover, Taidide is a lefty. Why? BECAUSE I CAN!
Fixed the sizing on the previous pages as well as this one so that its not so zoomed into the page. Enjoy~
Pupils say:
Not to be rude, but it just screamed Naruto + Bleach throughout the color pages for me. Watching Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X, I don't think those pants works exactly like a pant and can be pretty obvious if you pay attention to it, I used to draw it thinking it was something like a skirt too XD
If you're digitally drawing your comic, I suggest you find out ways to make those Katana(short katana?) look better. I don't think the grip is that thick in size, and the swords are not straight, even though the katana is curved it still maintained a sight of it being straight-like. It'd be easy to fix problem like this digitally.
Like the hands though and I like how the black clothed guy's pose is in the last panel, I'd say the panel where the black clothed guy comments on Tai and the last panel are the best so far. Oh and those clouds. :D
Im aware that there are some similarities, but it's kinda hard to make a story involving two friends fighting each other without being compared to naruto. I don't see where you got the comparison to bleach other than the fact that he is a swordsman with orange hair? If that's going to be that big of a problem, then i guess i have no choice but to change his hair color. The story drifts away from comparisons later, don't worry xD
As far as the sword goes, yeah, looking at it now its way off. I'm working on getting these things more accurate, drawing katana were alot harder than i thought. I've also been looking at link's to see exactly how the hakama operates, so hopefully i can fix this skirt problem haha.
Thank you for the comment and the constructive criticism! I'll be working on improving my skills and hoping this will be alot better! :D
Geez, I was a bit afraid of you throwing a trantrum over my criticism, guess I was worry for nothing ^_^ you handled it well. As far as I know, I think the hakama are supposed to be pants with giant sides and a tighter waist part, and they "are" pants, I made a typo on my last post. Which makes it look like a skirt if a person put his two legs close.
It looks a bit like Bleach because the main character has the same style of hair as Ichigo, though messier and longer, and he was wearing, well, samurai clothes. :P
Once someone puts something on the internet, they should be prepared to take criticism, its just the way things are. yeah, i had made Tai's hair a little more of falling over than spikes, i guess i failed to make that apparent in this page, damn side views haha. I had changed his hair to brown at one point because i thought orange would lead to this, but i was so used to his orange hair that i changed it back.
I see what you mean about the hakama though, but they are really pants?? I know there are some form of hakama that are actually skirts, but i'll have to look into it more then.
Thank you once again! :D
Make more :D Im faving this.
@Remy-kun: Ah, thank you!! :D
Well, watching Rurouni Kenshin, they sure are.
I guess I'll have to watch more of that then.. that was a series I had planned on watching at some point anyways so i guess now's a good time to
thanks so much for your comment! your comic is really nice too; I like the setting of the bamboo forest :)
PS I'm glad you like his hair pins xD
@ Yuri-Pad: ah thank you!
Yes, yes, hair pins are always great looking, especially when done right, as you have :)
I see you got a lot of feedback on this page ^^ Well if you're doing this on photoshop, you could download brushes from here http://psychobob.xepher.net/screentonez/ and they'll help you, for example, with the explosion on the first panel. Would be neat if, on that third panel, you added some speedlines ad stuff like that, so that the focus would turn to the clash between the swords ^^ If you're gonna draw samurais and swordfights, I really reccomend you read the whole Rurouni Kenshin manga, as well as Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Vagabond... they'll help you a lot, I think. ^^ Keep this up!!
@ some_unknown_dude: I started watching Peacemaker, i look at vagabond randomly because I adore how realistic it looks, I didn't like Samurai Deeper Kyo too much, and I had started watching Rurouni Kenshin, but i started getting bored of it around the fifth episode. I'll try my best to read them though, since it is great to have alot of different stories to help. Especially since im not too fond of bleach..
